Testing Fuels

Aim: To find the fuel with the most energy per unit of mass.
Method:
  1. Weigh fuel before burning

  2. Take initial water temperature

  3. Burn fuel to heat fixed amount of water
(Do not let the water boil)

  4. Take final water temperature

  5. Extinguish fuel and reweigh

  6. Calculate Δ θ and Δ m

  7. Then calculate Δ θ / Δ m
