Elastic Energy

An object is one that is able to recover its original shape after being (changed its shape). The deformation could be:

It takes a force to deform an object a certain distance, therefore is done on the object to deform it.

The energy transferred to the deformed object is as elastic potential energy. This can also be know as strain energy.

Elastic potential energy can be easily stored and retrieved from Clockwork windings, springs, bows (as in arrow) and Bungee (elastic) cords.

Note: When a deformed object does not return to its original shape then it has undergone plastic deformation rather than elastic deformation.
