Aseptic Techniques

Aseptic Techniques essentially kill microbes and stops reinfection. This is either to prevent infection from dangerous bacteria or contamination of experiments.

There are various ways in which this can be achieved:

• Covering - stops air bourne microbes
• Disinfecting
• Heating - 15 mins at 121°C or 3 mins at 134°C
• Radiation - UV or Gamma radiation
